2124 aluminum is a high-purity variant of 2024, offering enhanced strength and creep resistance at elevated temperatures. It boasts significantly better fracture toughness compared to 2024 and features excellent exfoliation resistance. This makes it particularly well-suited for applications requiring improved short-transverse ductility. While 2124 provides comparable properties to 2024, it benefits from more tightly controlled iron and silicon content, resulting in optimized strength and toughness.
