High-gloss 5083 Alloy Aluminum Plates for Oil Tanker Truck

5083 aluminum plate belongs to the Al-Mg anti-rust alloy series and is the preferred core material for tanker truck manufacturing. With excellent corrosion resistance, superior weldability, sufficient strength, lightweight properties, and easy formability, it fully meets the demanding requirements of fuel transportation, pressure resistance, anti-corrosion, and lightweight design. It ensures long-term safety, durability, and operational efficiency for tank trucks, making it an ideal material for hazardous chemical and fuel transport tanks.

Containing 4.0–4.9% magnesium along with manganese and chromium, 5083 aluminum forms a dense and stable oxide layer on the surface, providing outstanding corrosion resistance. It effectively resists gasoline, diesel, chemicals, de-icing salts, humid environments, and harsh weather conditions, preventing leakage, perforation, and corrosion-related failures while significantly reducing maintenance costs.

Key Features and Properties of 5083 tanker plates

1. Excellent Corrosion Resistance

  • Al-Mg alloy with 4.0–4.9% Mg, forming a stable oxide layer

  • Resistant to fuel, chemicals, de-icing salts, and harsh environments

  • Strong anti-SCC performance, no leakage or perforation

  • 5–10 years longer service life than carbon steel

  • No additional anti-corrosion coating required

2. Superior Weldability

  • Stable performance after welding, minimal strength loss

  • Compatible with MIG and TIG welding

  • Weld strength ≥85% of base material

  • Excellent sealing for tank structures

  • Common tempers: H111 (tank body), O (heads & baffles)

3. Strength & Structural Stability

  • Tensile strength: 270–345 MPa

  • Yield strength: 120–260 MPa

  • Withstands pressure, impact, and dynamic loads

  • Resistant to deformation and cracking

4. Lightweight Efficiency

  • Density: ~2.66 g/cm³ (about 1/3 of steel)

  • Reduces tank weight by 4+ tons

  • Increases payload by 18–35%

  • Improves fuel efficiency

5. Excellent Formability

  • Easy bending, rolling, stamping, and cutting

  • Ideal for tanks, heads, and baffles

  • Wide plates reduce welding seams

  • Smooth surface ensures high processing quality

6. Fatigue & Impact Resistance

  • Withstands vibration and repeated loading

  • Performs well under road shocks and liquid movement

  • Good low-temperature toughness, no brittle cracking
