Extruded Aluminum rod bar 6063 T6 T651
Extruded aluminum round bars 6063 T6 and T651 both belong to the Al-Mg-Si series of aluminum alloys, known for their excellent extrusion performance, corrosion resistance, and surface treatment properties. The main differences between the two lie in their heat treatment processes and mechanical characteristics. 6063 T6 is produced through solution heat treatment followed by artificial aging, but without stress relief, resulting in relatively high residual stress. In contrast, 6063 T651 undergoes an additional 1% to 3% controlled stretching after the T6 process, which relieves about 80% of the internal stress through plastic deformation, providing greater dimensional stability.
Mechanical properties:
6063 T6 offers a tensile strength of at least 241 MPa, a yield strength (0.2% proof) of at least 214 MPa, and an elongation after fracture between 8% and 12%. The mechanical properties of 6063 T651 are comparable to those of T6, but it exhibits superior fatigue resistance and better resistance to stress-corrosion cracking.
Machinability:
6063 T6 has larger dimensional tolerances and lower resistance to deformation, making it suitable for general structural components or welded assemblies where high precision is not critical. 6063 T651, on the other hand, provides tighter machining tolerances and enhanced stability during processing, making it ideal for precision applications such as automation equipment, linear motion guides, and electronic instruments.
Practical applications:
6063 T6 is widely used in architectural structures like window and door frames, curtain walls, as well as in lightweight automotive and marine components, radiators, and industrial tubing. 6063 T651 is preferred for high-precision and high-performance applications, particularly in aerospace, precision instrumentation, and advanced mechanical systems.
