5083 aluminum round bar manufacturing process
Our 5083 aluminum round bars are produced through hot extrusion or continuous casting and rolling, followed by precision cutting and surface conditioning.
Extrusion Process: Heated 5083 billets are forced through a round die to create solid bars with uniform grain structure and excellent mechanical strength. This method ensures tight dimensional tolerances and minimal internal defects.
Homogenization & Annealing: After extrusion, bars are homogenized and annealed to relieve internal stress and enhance formability.
Surface Finishing: Each bar is straightened, deburred, and cleaned to provide a smooth surface—ideal for CNC machining and welding.
Optional Ultrasonic Testing: For critical applications like pressure vessels or aerospace tooling, ultrasonic inspection ensures internal quality.
Typical Applications
5083 aluminum round bar is widely used in:
Marine hardware – shafts, cleats, brackets, underwater fixtures
LNG and pressure vessel components – connectors, reinforcement rods
Machined parts – bushings, pins, spacers, flanges
Defense and armored vehicles – anti-corrosion structural elements
Machining & Welding Tips
For best results, use sharp carbide tools and apply coolant when machining.
Use ER5356 aluminum filler rod when TIG or MIG welding to retain corrosion resistance.
Bending is possible in O or H111 temper; avoid sharp radius bends.
